Do not forget that April 17th is the deadline this year to file your taxes. Reason being is because the 15th falls on a Sunday and the 16th is a Federal holiday in the District of Columbia, Emancipation Day.

The Economic Recovery Payment

A one-time payment of $250 will be made in 2009 to:

  • Retirees, disabled individuals and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients receiving benefits from the Social Security Administration.
  • Disabled veterans receiving benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Railroad Retirement beneficiaries.

You will need to contact he appropiate authority for more information because this payment is not going to come from the IRS.

The Social Security Administration Web site and the Veterans Administration Website has a special section on the economic recovery payment. It has been reported that the payments will be sent out early as June of 2009.
